Using the menu on the left, you can find out more about what we do. We are a part of Rotary International, which is the world's largest service organisation. Most clubs have various committees each of which provide a different type of service, but since we are a very small group we work on projects and come together to organise details.
On 2nd April 2007, our region was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 8.1 followed by a tsunami which destroyed most of the villages on our island. Gizo Rotary Club was involved in numerous aid relief activities. However, from July onwards, the club’s main post disaster role has been to provide input and advice to District 9600 on suitable projects for funding from disaster donations and liaison with Honiara Rotary Club over the shipment of aqua boxes for the Western Province Education Dept. In addition, the club also provided feedback to individual clubs which had funds for specific post disaster activities such as water supply projects.
If you are a Rotarian visiting the area, you will be made welcome at one of our meetings - check the venue and programme pages for further details. Don't forget- It's a BAREFOOT CLUB!
